Para La Tierra Internship

To be an intern at Para La Tierra you must be over 18 and be studying towards or have completed your degree in life sciences or other relevant discipline.

Interns are expected to plan, design and execute their own projects from start to finish with the help and support of the onsite professional scientists. If you’re looking for a unique field experience and complete control of your own project, this option will give you the freedom to chose your study area and research focus. We’ll even help you to publish your results at the end of your study.

How you’ll benefit

Interns leave with a solid understanding of project design and troubleshooting, a range of experience in fieldwork techniques, competence in using a GPS unit and a sense of achievement. You will also have practice in presenting your work to your peers and report writing.
Past intern projects include:

• A study of the herpetofauna that inhabit four different habitat areas at Laguna Blanca
• Daylight time budget of the smooth billed ani and guyra cuckoo
• Comparison of feeding technique and gape size of fruit eating bird species in the cerrado
• Comparison of small mammal species richness in the Atlantic Forest and transitional forest habitats of Paraguay
• Ecological factors affecting the abundance, distribution, and diversity of fern species at Reserva Natural Laguna Blanca
• Edge effects and disturbance in Atlantic forests on the distribution and abundance of small mammals

Internships at Laguna Blanca are for a minimum of three months.
