Activity Leader - Summer Educational Program

Please note that this internship is available only to students under the age of 25 as part of our internship program "The Guild." Fluent in both English and Spanish a plus!

The South Bronx Concerned Citizens provides programs that promote Youth Awareness and Family Unification. Our programs are educational and in touch with the needs with the community we services. SBCC staff are high-quality, fun, service-minded people that demonstrate pride in their work. They exhibit showmanship, stay well informed of our daily and weekly agenda, and work relentlessly to market our programs and attract children and families to our facilities.

The Activity Leader is put in trust of daily interactions and connections with children and responsible for presenting themselves in a professional and mature manner in front of parents, families, residents in the community in fulfillment of organization policies, procedures and standards.

The Activity Leader is expected to:

• Create a safe and enriching environment for children by providing individual and group activities that consist of educational and recreational concepts.
• Demonstrate pride of ownership in the operation of the business by making fiscally responsible decisions.
• Establish the organization as a vibrant gathering place and serve as an active member of the community.
• Create a cooperative and fun work environment by being a creative, respectful, and trusting team member.

Responsibilities Include

c Monitoring the Children & Enforcing the Rules

c Following Support Staff guidelines thoughtfully and consistently.

c Facilitating Educational Activities Independently or with a Partner

c Facilitating Activities in the park or on trips professionally with your co-workers and supervisors.

c Setting up the office with tables, chairs, supplies, etc.

c Keeping the office presentable (including sweeping; vacuuming; cleaning the bathroom; organizing magazines, educational materials, and books; putting supplies away in designated area, etc.)
